Götz Werner is dead. A truly remarkable entrepreneur and person, the founder of the drugstore chain "dm". I would have loved to have had an in-depth discussion with him about his favourite topic - the unconditional basic income - and many of his companions report that it was always a pleasure to discuss and listen to him. Our conversation would probably have been controversial....
As I somehow only read business-orientated books, I now have a whole bunch of books by Götz Werner at home and have already read the first pages of the book: "Wann fällt der Groschen? 52 key questions.....", I am fascinated by the clarity and distinctness with which he addresses various topics. I particularly like: "Every day is a new beginning". Everyone who reads this sentence will certainly have a different interpretation, but I'm just sharing my own perception.
For me, this little sentence symbolises the fact that every day we are given the opportunity to change what we did the days/weeks/months before. This sentence actually even encourages us to think about what I can do differently/better/faster/more interestingly today in order to change myself, the company or my environment - for the better, of course, because every day is a new beginning. Even though many of us may live in routines, we always have the opportunity to try something different.
But is different always better?
Certainly not, and it shouldn't always be. Change opens our eyes and makes us more aware of our surroundings and our actions. Every day gives me a new opportunity for reflection; it's up to you to accept this and put it into practice. The wonderful thing for me about this sentence is that it touches on all areas, be it our company, the halbersbacher hospitality group with its wonderful and wonderfully diverse people or just my private life and environment.
Every day is a new beginning. I won't think about it every day, but every day that I do is a good development. For us. For me. At least that's what I think.
